DYNOSTARS COORDINATOR

Description:

Arq’s Dynostars’ mission is to provide each child with the opportunity to learn, grow, move, problem solve, think critically, experience success and positively manage challenges.  Developmentally appropriate play opportunities allow for intellectual growth, physical development (fine and gross motor), exploration, social/emotional discipline, and language and literacy expansion.

We know that play/movement is essential to brain development and that purposeful play interactions provide children with the optimal developmental milieu to be academically, socially, and emotionally equipped to lead us into the future.

​

As the Dynostar Coordinator it is expected that you take excellent care working with toddlers. As much as you are to watch over them you are also there to be their friend! Kids love to play and, in our facility, one of our main goals is to encourage movement while they play but also while they learn. Whether that be by; playing throughout our jungle gym and with the blocks, planning different games and activities around our facility, dancing and singing in the studio, and/or creating other opportunities for movement-based learning. 

 

In the program these kids will be learning to climb and it’s your job to help them soar to new heights. Toddlers need consistent attention, and they’ll look to you for help while they learn to face their fears. It is expected that you do the very best you can to teach them how to do that in a safe and encouraging environment. 

 

Including working well with kids you must maintain exceptional customer service on and off shift. Parents should continually be getting feedback about their child at the end of each session. Many parents love to come in at the end of class to watch them climb, engaging with these parents is essential!

 

You are required to work up to six sessions a week; a morning and afternoon class every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Each session is two and a half hours long. You are also responsible for opening the facility when you get to Arq each morning. The morning classes will be during our member only hours so you will be expected to help any members that come into the facility with a smile!

FrONT DESK

Description:

Arq Mountain Centre is a climbing gym in Cranbrook, BC. We provide a variety of programming for all ages and aim to inspire movement by creating a welcoming environment for everyone in our community. We are seeking a qualified candidate to help run our front desk.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer service 

  • Retail sales of climbing equipment

  • Barista 

  • New climber orientation

  • Perform regular safety rounds of the gym

  • Cleaning 

  • Conduct top rope and lead belay tests 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience 

  • Experience and passion for climbing and desire to share that passion with others

  • An unwavering commitment to safety  

  • A good work ethic including timeliness, dependability, and excellent communication skills 

  • Availability on weekends and during the day on weekdays a must 

 

Details:

  • This is a part time position (15-20 hours a week) 

  • Start date: November 1st, 2022 

  • Compensation commensurate upon experience.

Birthday Party Facilitator

Description:

Arq Mountain Centre is a climbing gym in Cranbrook, BC. We provide a variety of programming for all ages and aim to inspire movement by creating a welcoming environment for everyone in our community. We are seeking 1-2 individuals to run birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays, these individuals are the face of fun in the gym. They must be enthusiastic to help these groups have the best possible experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with kids age 3-12

  • Setting up and putting away tables and chairs in our party room

  • Cleaning of the party room after each party as well as our jungle gym and foam blocks 

  • Going over rules and safety in the gym to each party

  • Belaying the party participants and assisting them in getting on climbing gear

Desired Qualifications:

  • Availability Saturdays and Sundays

  • Experience and passion for climbing

  • Able to top rope belay

  • A good work ethic including timeliness, dependability, and communication skills

Details:

  • This is a part time position (2-10 hours a week)

  • Start date: November 1st 2022

Coach

Description:

Arq Mountain Centre is a climbing gym in Cranbrook, BC. We provide a variety of programming for all ages and aim to inspire movement by creating a welcoming environment for everyone in our community. We are seeking an individual that is able to inspire young climbers to reach their goals while teaching safety, gym etiquette, climbing skills, and belaying skills.

​

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with kids ages 4-16

  • Managing groups of kids and ability to keep them in a controlled environment

  • Teaching kids climbing and belaying skills

  • Making lesson plans for each specific class

​

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience

  • Ability to top rope belay

  • Commitment to safety

  • Experience and passion for climbing and a desire to share that passion with others

  • A good work ethic including timeliness, dependability, and communication skills

  • Availability during after school hours, specifically between 4pm-8pm

  • Ability to adapt lesson plans based on how busy our facility is

Details:

  • This is a part time position (10-15 hours a week)

  • Start date: November 1st 2022
